Interest in Greece among European tourists continues to grow. According to local media, the country can expect a 20% increase in foreign tourist arrivals this year. Against this background, reports suggest that tourists from our countries may face a shortage of available accommodation.
The publications note that due to the difficult situation in Turkey, Egypt, and Tunisia, Greece is becoming increasingly popular among Europeans, second only to Spain. Growing demand for Greek resorts is being recorded in many countries across Western and Northern Europe. In Germany alone, advance sales of holidays to Greece are 41% higher than last year’s figures.
According to forecasts by the Greek media, particularly strong growth this year will come from tourists from Austria (+84%), Germany (+46%), Switzerland (+26%), France (+48%), Denmark (+29%), and the Czech Republic (+28%). “Safety remains the main criterion for European tourists, which is why Spain, Portugal, and Greece are leading in early bookings. Against the background of this demand, European tour operators are increasing the number of hotel rooms available at resorts in these countries,” Greek experts are quoted as saying.
